Kajsamoor – traditional two-masted ketch for venue hire in Cornwall
The Kajsamoor is one of Charlestown’s resident classic ships. She is a two-masted ketch, with the mizzen mast shorter than the main mast and stepped forward of the helm. This type of vessel is also known as a Galleass-rigged square-topsail schooner.
She was built in 1939 in Norway, and originally registered in the port of Tallin. As she was launched at the beginning of World War II, she was quickly requisitioned by the German Navy for use as a naval training vessel. After the war, she returned to civil service as a cargo ship.
The Kajsamoor arrived in Charlestown on 8th May 2017 and since that time has been used in many film productions, including Poldark, Taboo and Frontier.
A unique venue in the heart of Charlestown Harbour
The Kasjamoor is also available to hire for private parties and events. The Harbour can supply everything from a 3 course meal, to a drinks reception, or just the venue. As well as the substantial open deck space, the Kajsamoor has a large hold area that can comfortably seat 16 people for a meal, or around 35 people standing. Catering for events is provided by local popular restaurant, The Longstore.
