Getting to Charlestown Harbour
Public transport
The nearest train station is St Austell, which is a 5 minute taxi ride, or about a 20 minute walk away from the Harbour.
There is a bus service that runs from Newquay to Fowey, with St Austell and Charlestown en route. The bus stop in Charlestown is just a few minutes walk from the harbour, straight down the hill.
By car
If you are driving, Charlestown is well signposted from the A390. It is a short drive from St Austell and only about 20 minutes from Fowey.
There is some parking available on-road, or there is a public car park very close to the Harbour (please note this car park is not owned by Charlestown Harbour).
By boat
For those hoping to stop at the Harbour by boat, at present we are unable to welcome vessels into the Inner Harbour until the lock gate has undergone scheduled repair, but vessels are welcome to anchor in the bay and come into the Outer Harbour via tender (smaller vessels can also make use of the Outer Harbour. For any queries about approaching via boat, please contact the Harbour Office on 01726 70241 (Monday-Friday 9am-5pm).
Fees: mooring fees for the Inner Harbour are £1.25 + VAT per foot per week.
Accessibility
The Outer Harbour and Inner Harbour are all accessible via slipways, so the area is accessible for wheelchair users. Charlestown Harbour is an Eighteenth Century working port, and as such does have much uneven ground, cobbles as well as cleats, ropes and marine paraphernalia around the quays.
Dogs
Dogs are welcome in the Inner Harbour and outer quays, and must be kept on lead at all times. From 1st April – 31st October, dogs are not permitted on the beaches.
Local accommodation
There are two beautiful, classic vessels moored in the Inner Harbour that offer unique accommodation right n the heart of the harbour; Anny of Charlestown and Sea Lion.
For those that prefer to be on land, The Rashleigh Arms offers a range of modern and well appointed rooms right in the centre of the village.
