At the end of the Outer East Pier, the Round House looks out across St Austell Bay. It’s a wonderfully intimate place to exchange your vows, with space for just eight people in total, including the couple. 

For a larger gathering, an outdoor ceremony beside the Round House or over on the Outer West Wall can accommodate approximately 40 guests, subject to the agreed arrangements. Historic harbour walls and the sea beyond provide the backdrop. 

Keep the rest of the day equally personal: a toast after the ceremony, photographs together and a long lunch with your favourite people. There’s plenty of room for all your ideas. 

Let the harbour be part of the story 

You don’t have to hold your whole wedding here to make Charlestown part of it. 

Perhaps you’re imagining a harbour ceremony before heading to a favourite restaurant. Or you already have a reception venue in mind and would love to explore arranging wedding photographs on the quays.

Take your cue from the coast 

The harbour has plenty of character of its own, so a few thoughtful details can go a long way. 

For an autumn palette, look to sea blues, warm cream and the greys of the stone, with touches of rust or deep burgundy. Seasonal flowers, loose foliage and textured linen would sit beautifully against that backdrop. 

Think about comfort as well as colour. A wool wrap, a good jacket and a spare pair of shoes for walking between photographs are small additions you may be very glad of.

A short walk from the harbour to a welcoming reception can make a lovely transition from ceremony to celebration. Perhaps there’s a particular caterer you love, a florist whose work feels just right, or a family connection to a vessel you’d like to bring into the harbour.
